1. In about 50 words, talk a specific example where you learned from your mistakes in either this class or another class your are studying in at Ferris.
2. Look at the following two videos
In 50-80 words explain the educational benefits of following points: (a) the difference in speaking speed (b) the use of subtitles (c) the subject matter (d) the level of vocabulary (e) the use of visuals to understand the words.

ReplyDelete1, I made a mistake in Reading class last week. Ms.Fukushima said “Yumi. Do you know this word?” and I answered. However, she said “You are correct but this word has different meanings in this article.” I was surprised because I did not know that. But my understanding for vocabulary became deeper.
ReplyDelete2, I think the first video’s speaking speed is good to improve our English skills because it is more natural than the second one. The use of subtitles is good because we can check the dictionary. The subject matter is also good since we can learn both different fields at the same time. The level of vocabulary is difficult for me but it is helpful to know new words. The use of visuals help to our understandings.
I have ever experienced same things.It is hard for me to learn many meanings of one words,but I want to think it is chance to understand the word deeply like you.

Delete1.I made a mistake in Listening class.when we practiced listening,I heard the word of "Daiba" in the conversation.So I thought the conversation is about "Daiba City",but "Daiba" is actually meant "diversity".Therefore,I misread the conversatoin considerably and I keenly realize low of listening capability.So I need to practice listening more.
ReplyDelete2.At first,I think it is nice to listening to the difference in speaking speed because I can understand easily if I listen to the speaking of normal speed after listening to that of fast speed.Secondly,I can guess the story by using subtitles or cheaking the subject matter and the level of vocabulary is difficult for me,but I can know new words this time.Finally,I think I may understand the story by using visuals even if I can't listen correctly.
I had same experience. Listening is too difficult for me. I think practice makes perfect.

Delete1.I made a mistake Reading class.When we studied reading chapter,I found a word "diet".I think "diet"means "losing weight".But I noticed this context is missing.So,I looked up this word in a dictionary.At result,I knew corrected meaning this word."diet" means "kokkai" which is a place where was argued country problems by members of Congress.Therefore,I could learn this word deeply.

So,I looked up the words in a dictionary which I could not understand.Finally,thought I could not listen the story,I could understand the story by using visuals.So,I think the visual is very important to image the scene.
I think so too. Each word has a lot of meanings. Therefore we should study hard and learn the exact meanings.

ReplyDelete1, I made a mistake in Reading class. When I read the article, I could not understand the meaning of "Bar". It has a lot of meaning. At first I thought that "Bar" is where we drink alcohol but the meaning didn't fit the article. My teacher said, "Bar" has other meaning. It means a lawyer, I was very surprised and I thought that words are very interesting.
ReplyDelete2, I thought that the first video's speed is very natural. However it was difficult for me to understand the content, so the second video's speed was fit for me. The subtitles was good because it was helped me suppose the story. The subject matter and the level of vocabulary were a little difficult but I could learn many new words. And I thought the visual is really important to understand.
When I don't know the other meaning, i can't understand cantecst of all. So i think I have to be careful about words that have many meanings.

Delete1. At Mr.Dan's class, I learned so many words by using Net Academy which I did not know before. I misunderstood a lot of vocabulary, but now I know the correct meanings. Using Net Academy is really good way to learn vocabulary.
ReplyDelete2. I think first video's speaking is a little bit fast, but it is good for us to achive our English. Even though we can not listen perfectly, it is still good way to improve our English skills, and I think second video is too slow. Using subtitles helps me to understanding the story. The level of vocabulary is hard for me, but it is a good way to learn vocabulary and also the use of visuals helps me to understand the words.
I think so too. I also misunderstood a lot of vocabulary so we should use Net Academy harder.

Delete1: I made a mistake in reading class. I noticed that was different interpret from When I read the textbook to preparation for this class. I knew that the word that I think easy is the word that has a lot of meaning in fact. I was very surprised and became interesting about the word.
ReplyDelete2: I think it is good speed to improve listening skill. First video is normal speed but it’s hard for me. Second video is slow speed therefore I could understand. The use of subtitles is nice because we can understand what they say by subtitles. The subject matter is interesting for me because I usually don’t mention this theme. I learn many new words and phrases in this class,too. I always recognize it my English levels..
Delete1. I made a mistake Writing class. I was not good at concluding a sentence and a sentence. I can not distinguish a difference of prepositions well. Although failing is embarrassed me, every failure is a stepping-stone to success, so I will keep to try without being afraid of failing.

Delete1. In my reading class, I had a homework which had to summarize a paragraph . However, I misunderstanding the meaning of summarize a paragraph so I translated all sentence into Japanese . The teacher told me to make sure the meaning of summary. From the mistake I got how to sum up a paragraph.
ReplyDelete2. Changing speed of two video are benefit for learning English students. the reason is that slowly video can catch vocabulary clearly at hearing. Use subtitle might help to understand the listening. However, I think If students want to improve their listening, no subtitle is good because they will listen over and over it till understand. The most of vocab are specific so I needed to look up a dictionary. Visuals to understand the word helps the listening.
The paragraph of reading class is difficut for me, so I often have mistakes. I want to be able to sum up a paragraph like you.
DeleteSummarizing is very difficult for me. I can’t summarize well, so I just translated all sentence every time.
Delete1 I made a mistake in English reading class. I read and translated the text book, “Everything all over the place!” into Japanese. I thought I understood the passage, however, my teacher said “That is wrong answer.” I noticed that “all over the place” is a set phrase and it means “fall into disorder”. I learned from it and I felt I was poor at set phrase.
ReplyDelete2 I think the two videos’ listening and the level of vocabulary are difficult. That’s why the use of subtitles and the use of visuals help us to understand the videos’ contents. Then, because of the subject matter of the videos is science, as a student, we may feel it is the close subject. I think the most important point is the difference in speaking speed. I suppose we can become listen easily by natural speed after listen by three times speed.
It is hard to remember vocabulary,set phrase,grammar etc..However,I want to will be able to make up clear sentences by using set phrase.

Delete1.I made some mistakes in writing class. I wrote sentences mistakes about a tense and grammar. I realized that my weakpoint is writing some sentences. I thought it is important to look it over again when I write sentences. So I decided to do it and more study harder about writing from now on.

At first I thought that "address" is the place where someone lives or works that you use to sent them letters or emails but the meaning didn't fit the article. My teacher said, "address" has other meaning. It means a speech, I was very surprised.

I think pronounciation is very difficult. It's my weak point, so I practice hard.

Delete1 I made a mistake in TOEFL class. The previous day, I received a mail which changes lecture room from school. However, I was busy so I didn't read this mail well. I was different lecture room, but my friend was same lecture room too. We noticed a mistake and we were in time.

ReplyDelete1. I made a mistake in TOEIC class. I mispronounced the word lamb. It is a voiceless sound. After that I looked over my dictionaly and listened the pronunciation. I need to listening the word more carefully. So I use ALC Net-Academy especially listening point.
ReplyDelete2. I think listening different speed is effective way to lean English. I thought the second video was a little slowly than the first one. I think using subtitles are usuful to grasp the meaning before reading. This subject matter is not interesting so I coud not understand easily. The level of vocaburary is good level to increase my vocabulary and visuals are also good to understand the story.

Second, We can listen to all words and understand exact sentences. Third, the subject matter is complicated for me and there are often difficult words in the subject matters understanding is complicated. Vocablaries are so difficult. As you know, we should review contents waht we learned. Then we can remember a lot of vocablaries.

Delete1.I made mistakes in speaking class. In speaking class, we discuss about some topic with a pair student and we write each pair student's comment in the paper. We hand it for teacher in the end of class,and we'll get it next class with teacher's repared sentence. I always made some mistakes in my sentence but I can noticed my mistakes in the sentence, so I like it system.

I found my sentence has some mistakes in the same class too.This class makes me notice I often mistake in a preposition so I think this class is beneficial for us!!!
DeleteI learned from my mistakes in class very good preparation for classes is essential and it gives me confidence. I have an English presentation class on Friday. Last class I could not prepare enough. My presentation was too long and I just explained topic to my classmates. So, teacher told me that most important thing is not explanation but own opinion and enough prepare makes me more confident. Then I try to prepare more for my all class.

ReplyDelete2 I thought it is a good idea to listen 2 videos in different speed.After I listened first video I could not understand what a person said,but after listening second video I could understand some sentences.As for me,subtles played an most important part because when I listened videos and couldn't understand some words,in paticularly which were underlined, I could consult a dictionary.I thought not only these but also it is good to understand the meaning of sentences.I felt wonder when a salamander restored his fin. I wish this reseach will success for people.I was helped by using of visuals which gave me images.
I am not good at understanding differences of English pronunciation too.Minako seems to have been able to understand these differences by taking a class of English pronounciation so I indent to take the class next time.

I learned many conjunctions, but I have a good command of those words. My teacher said “Using same words many time is not smart. We should change in wording. “ That’ why I try another words.

ReplyDeleteI made a mistake when the reading class in ferris. I read the story and summarized it, but I was realized I couldn’t read it correctly by teacher‘s point out. Recently I feel progress of my English, but I should study more hard and I want skill up my English ability.

(a)I think it is good to listen the different speed to skill up listening ability, because I can make sure what speaker said that I couldn’t follow.
(b)I think it is a good function. It is no problem I just couldn’t follow and I know the meaning of the word, but when I don’t know the meaning, I can check the meaning by see the subtitle. Subtitle is usuful.
(c)I t is said about the difference of gene between human and the creature that can regrows their body. It is difficult to understand , but it is so interested topic.
(d)I knew almost words so it is suit to me , but I didn’t know the creature‘s name.
It is difficult for me to summarize the story. I have to try reading English books more and more.
